Description of Sopadelic
Young Bull’s debut full-length album, Sopadelic, was created over a period of 2 years–during which Young Bull developed from a after school experiment into a touring live band with a rapidly growing organic following. This project spans from the hard-hitting jazz-inflected hip hop of the first track “Egyptian Joint” to the smooth, sultry R&B of the final track “Let Down Your Guard.” In between these capstones, there exists an enormous variety of sonic development.
Rapper Christian Sinclair, who would later become the third member Young Bull, is featured on several of the project’s more energetic tracks, including their innovative reggae-trap fusion on the track “Voicemail.” This track is followed by Young Bull’s first-ever song “Can’t Get You Outta My Head,” which shines through as a downtempo, neo-soul track rooted in a grooving bass line and behind-the-beat drums. Sopadelic was Young Bull’s first major commitment–a self-legitimizing release that is just as powerful today as it was when it was first hit the stores in the summer of 2016.
